Interconnection, Infrastructure Sharing, Co-location and Roaming Agreements
INTRODUCTION
Many telecommunication and Utility Companies in developed countries are unable to provide the necessary services to consumers due to high capex and opex costs especially in suburban and rural areas. This is a big challenge due too the fact that investment in those areas cannot sustain the running costs of such networks. This is more clear in the Telecommunication, Energy, Gas, Water and Mining sectors. The way out is for companies to come together and share existing infrastructures and also pull resources together in form of joint ventures to roll out new projects.
The end effect is a lower capital expenditure and low operations and maintenance costs for the investors. On the consumer side is a lower tariff.
